This works great. I've used my Blackberry Pearl (which has the mini headphone plug) as an MP3 player for awhile. First I was using a handsfree stereo headphone set that had a built in microphone along with a female plug for your own set of headphones. I went through two of those with the plugs breaking after about a month.
I've been using this for about 3-4 months now and haven't had any issues at all. If this ever breaks, I'll just order another of the same thing.
This let's you plug your regular headphones into one and and the other directly into the Blackberry. |
Wrong ends

| Even after reading the description I got the wrong part, this connector has a 2.5mm female end, my Blackberry requires a 2.5mm male end. |
Check your ends!

I fell into the same trap as some others - nice product, but the male and female ends are the OPPOSITE of what I needed.
This listing, Blackberry 2.5mm-3.5mm headset adapter, ASIN: B001644KLE, is the equivalent of the HDW-15306-001 Blackberry product. NOTE the '001' at the end! This part has a 2.5mm jack (male end) and a 3.5mm plug (female end). USE THIS PART IF YOU HAVE A 3.5mm HEADSET and a 2.5mm Phone.
Then, I thought that part HDW-15306-002 would be alright. Note the '002' on the end. This part appears to have the same-sized ends as the -001, but possibly different spacing/lengths of the rings and tip. (see RIM BlackBerry - Headset adapter - mini-phone 3.5 mm - sub-mini phone 2.5 mm)
I have an LG enV Touch VX11000, which has a 3.5mm jack, and a headset that has a 2.5mm plug, so I think I'm going to try to find the OEM part. |
